I had the pleasure of working as an intern for the Ann Street Gallery, during the summer of 2011. As an art major at SUNY Old Westbury, I was excited to get an understanding of the workings of a gallery. It was an eye opening look into not only the happenings of an art gallery but also to the art world. Mrs. Virginia Walsh was great at instructing me on virtually all aspects of duties required to run a gallery from all different tasks of organizing files, sending out mailings, assisting with gallery show preparations, assisting with hanging the artwork, and a number of other things. I would recommend an internship at the Ann Street Gallery to anyone remotely interested in the art world; it gives you a sample of the many aspects of what it is to operate a gallery.

I am so glad that I was able to volunteer at the paint in. It was so refreshing to see everyone really get into it, children and adults alike. Sign me up for next year! The volunteers are such lovely people and all committed to their cause. I am so glad that I “fell” into the volunteering there last Thanksgiving. It makes me so thankful for my life and the fact that I can give back a bit to the community.
