During summer 2012 I had the pleasure of interning at Safe Harbors of the Hudson under the super vision of Briana Cox. As a Public Relations Major at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh NY, it was a great opportunity to give back to the community that I have been living in while I am at school. I assisted with sending out mailings, updating email lists in constant contact, writing press releases and taking photographs. I was around for the closure of the Off-Broadway Run, the execution and closure of the annual Safe- Harbors of The Hudson Gala, and the annual Ann Street Market. I learned the behind the scenes aspects of a Non-profit. The team at Safe Harbors has taught me so much and it was a wonderful opportunity for me. Being able to write press releases and thank you letters as well as participate in the events allowed me to see how to successfully plan an event and all of the aspects that go into it.
