A Message from Executive Director, Lisa Silverstone
Safe Harbors is gearing up for its 8th annual gala. There is a lot of energy around the building this time of year, as we work to create a special occasion to recognize our Cornerstone of the Community recipients and celebrate the accomplishments of the organization with our friends, supporters and neighbors.

The theme of this year’s gala, Celebrating Community, seems apt for an organization dedicated to building communities through housing and the arts. We are proud to celebrate our contributions toward building a stronger Newburgh, through our Ann Street Gallery, our vibrant Lobby at the Ritz programming, our resident and local artist exhibitions and our continued efforts to create a large scale, professional performing arts space in the historic Ritz Theater. We are proud to have partnered with NYCRUNS to bring the first ever Newburgh half marathon and with it, over 600 visitors and neighbors to our city streets. We are thrilled to announce the opening of our Broadway commercial spaces for vibrant new businesses which will add tremendously to the revitalization of our downtown.

We are especially proud to honor our partners in Newburgh revitalization, Mayor Judy Kennedy and Dr. Hannah Brooks as our 2014 Cornerstones of the Community. In their championing of the City of Newburgh and their tireless work to strengthen its fabric, Mayor Kennedy and Dr. Brooks typify the spirit of the Cornerstone award.

Please take a moment to read through our newsletter and bring yourself up to date on all the great things happening at Safe Harbors! As always, your support is greatly appreciated.
