Safe Harbors of the Hudson is excited to welcome Hollywood actress, author, playwright and Newburgh native, Carol Hollenbeck (Carole Holland) back to the Ritz Theater on Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. for a dramatic reading of her play, Hometown Premiere, a work based on her experiences coming back to her hometown for the premiere of her feature film, Eden Cried in 1967.
The event will mark the 50th anniversary of the actual hometown premiere, Eden Cried, at the Ritz Theater on June 7, 1967.
Performing onstage for this dramatic reading are SAG equity actors, Betty Hudson, Hannah Beck, Sharlene Hartman and Brandon Boruch. Directing will be Joan Valentina and JJ Pyle will be giving stage direction.
It’s the tumultuous 1960’s in a small town in upstate New York. When a young girl returns home from Hollywood to attend her local hometown movie premiere, what should have been a joyous occasion, slowly turns into a traumatic event. When certain family secrets are revealed chaos erupts, along with a sudden twist of fate that quickly turns into an obsession.
