The Green Room

Once upon a time, it used to be the place to have an event. In its heyday, the Green Room was the scene of many wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs, award dinners and birthday parties. It is rumored that Frank Sinatra once spent time here with his cronies.

Part of the historic Hotel Newburgh, now newly renovated and renamed The Cornerstone Residence, the Green Room’s green terrazzo floor was restored by Safe Harbors of the Hudson. The Nemethy Mural, painted for the room by Albert Nemethy in 1950, is owned by the Historical Society of Newburgh and is now back home where it belongs in the Green Room.

Now, once again, the Green Room is the scene of many celebrations including weddings, baptisms, sweet sixteens, quinceaneras, movie screenings, and comedy shows. It can also be utilized for meetings, seminars, and networking or fundraising events.

The Green Room is adjacent to beautifully re-designed, clean rest rooms. It has a large, brightly lit fully equipped kitchen and 4200 square feet of useable space that is tastefully decorated. Maximum capacity for this room is 250 people. Brighten the lights for a meeting or lower them for a wedding. Almost anything goes!

Past and present hosts of events in the Green Room include the Greater Newburgh YMCA, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, the City of Newburgh, Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Independent Living, state and local government agencies, Washington’s Headquarters as well as numerous private individuals and organizations.

Lobby at the Ritz

The last remaining theater of five that lined Broadway in the City of Newburgh, the Ritz Theater is known as the birthplace of the beloved sitcom, I Love Lucy. Many well-known performers have graced its stage over the years. Although we are working toward raising the funds to restore the actual theater, we have a lobby and that’s a start!

The Ritz Theater Lobby has been used for many different types of events, including cocktail parties, intimate concerts, festivals, training seminars, movie screenings, exercise classes, and recitals. With 1800 square feet of space, you can host a cocktail party for up to 200 people, plan a training seminar for up to 140 people or have a sit-down celebration for up to 90 people. Restrooms are adjacent to the lobby, and a baby-grand piano is available to rent.

The Cornerstone Library

The Cornerstone Library is the perfect place to hold a small meeting or reading. With its high ceilings, large windows that allow ample natural light, and beautifully designed bookshelves, this space lends a very dignified air to any event. This space has hosted meetings with as many as 18 people in attendance. It is a perfect place to have a poetry reading, book club event, or board meeting. This room has hosted meetings for the “Loaves and Fishes” organization and the Opera Company of the Highlands. This space is approximately 1025 square feet and has a maximum capacity of 56 people.

The Cornerstone Multi-Purpose Room

The Multi Purpose Room is a completely inclusive space. With its own bathroom and fully equipped kitchen, this room is 1259 square feet. It has an intimate seating area, and includes a buffet-sized table and benches for dining or classes.

This room has been the site for many training sessions and meetings such as a farmers seminar for the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and week-long sessions for the Orange County District Attorney’s office. It also hosts the annual Newburgh Enlarged City School District Art Show, as well as many other events. The maximum occupancy for this room is 79 people.

The Cornerstone Multipurpose Room

The Cornerstone Computer Lab

As one of the many amenities at The Cornerstone Residence, The Cornerstone Computer Lab consists of a 14-computer workstation networked with Linux. In the 4 years it has been open, the lab has not experienced one virus. The lab is home to The Cornerstone GED program, which is open to both the tenants and the community. The lab has hosted many computer classes as well as private computer training classes for the staff of local employers such as Independent Living. The Cornerstone Computer Lab is approximately 1000 square feet and has a maximum capacity of 50 people.
