On Saturday, August 4th from 12-6 PM, Safe Harbors of the Hudson will be hosting their annual Ann Street Market to celebrate the revival of Newburgh’s Downtown area. Safe Harbors is currently seeking vendors.
The Ann Street Market brings fresh local food, art and music to the Newburgh community each year. This year, the market will feature a flea market, fresh flowers, antiques, arts and crafts, food vendors, fun activities for children (Hula Hoop Contest!) petting zoo, face painting, pony rides (for a small charge) and much more. Live musical performances throughout the day will include The Old Dawgz Band (blues and classic rock & roll) at 12 PM, William “Prez” Bush at 1 PM, Alyx Coe (classic rock & roll ballads, Motown and R&B covers) at 2 PM and the Dan Brother Band, sponsored by and performing on the roof of The Wherehouse at 3 PM.
Safe Harbors needs you, local farms & farmers, food purveyors, artists, artisans, and musicians to participate in the event. Call now if you would like to participate as a vendor. Vendor spaces cost $25 each and all proceeds benefit Safe Harbors of the Hudson and its programming throughout the year. Please click on the link below to download the 2012 vendor application.
Vendors will include: flea market items, cooking utensils/food stuffs, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, pony rides/petting zoo, crocheted items, T-shirts, antiques & collectibles, small furniture, handmade pillows, handmade and other jewelry, macrame, body oils, cupcakes, fresh squeezed lemonade, popcorn, pretzels and fresh produce including fruit/vegetables, handmade bracelets and key chains, French macaroons, hand sewn items and jewelry & watches
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the vacant lot on the southwest corner of Broadway and Liberty Streets (next to the Ritz Theater). In case of rain, the market will be held inside the Ritz Theater Lobby at 107 Broadway.
In conjunction with the market, there will be a new, exciting art exhibition opening at the Ann Street Gallery from 6 to 9 PM featuring work by local photographer Dmitri Kasterine. The exhibit inside the gallery is titled People & Places, 1955-2011 and the open air exhibit on the outside wall of the Ritz Theater is titled Newburgh: Portrait of a City. This project is made possible, in part, with funds from Orange County Tourism and the County of Orange. There will be music and food to celebrate the opening of these wonderful exhibits. You won’t want to miss it! The Ann Street Gallery is located at 104 Ann Street, Newburgh, www.annstreetgallery.com
