Newburgh Community Cleanup Thank You
We Wish to Extend a Very Special Thank You to All of Our Wonderful Volunteers and Supporting Community Businesses!
Our second annual Newburgh Community Cleanup on Saturday May 12, was a tremendous success! We could not have done it without the nearly 250 volunteers who came out to help and the support of countless individuals, businesses and partnering organizations.
Cleaning up Newburgh’s streets was no easy task. The cleanup effort covered the city from Clinton Street to Renwick Street and from Downing Park east to Colden Street. It required a lot of support, dedication and old-fashioned elbow grease to make it happen. But it doesn’t stop here: All of us need to work together to keep our beautiful city clean, to educate our youth about the importance of not littering and to follow the Newburgh Department of Public Works’ rules for trash and recycling collection. Hopefully one day we will no longer have to hold community cleanups!
In the meantime, we’re very grateful to all of you who showed up, helped out and supported this event.

KeyBank Foundation Supports Safe Harbors with Donation
KeyBank Foundation recently donated $3,000 to Safe Harbors of the Hudson in Orange County, in support of building lower Broadway. KeyBank Foundation provides charitable support to organizations like Safe Harbors of the Hudson that serve the public interest and address critical needs within the community. Key has a giving focus of economic self-sufficiency, rooted in the belief that economically self-sufficient individuals are empowered to face the challenges they encounter as they aspire to achieve their dreams.
Safe Harbors of the Hudson is a non-profit organization whose mission is transforming lives and building communities through housing and the arts. Safe Harbors’ supportive housing project, the Cornerstone Residence, was established in 2002 when the organization purchased the old Hotel Newburgh and transformed it from a run-down welfare hotel into safe, innovative and affordable housing. Named Supportive Housing Network of New York’s “Residence of the Year” in 2007, the Cornerstone is home to 128 adults including the formerly homeless, veterans, those living with a mental health diagnosis, artists and other adults in need of safe, affordable housing. Safe Harbors will use the funds from the KeyBank Foundation to continue their community building programs and strengthen the City of Newburgh.

Cheers to Safe Harbors!
The Wherehouse and Newburgh Brewing Company have teamed up once again, but this time, it’s to support a great local Newburgh charity: Safe Harbors of the Hudson. Starting at 6pm on May 17th at The Wherehouse, a specially designated keg of Newburgh Saison will become the “Safe Harbors Brew.” Proceeds from each draft poured that evening from this tap will benefit Safe Harbors of the Hudson and their mission of transforming lives and building communities through housing and the arts. Safe Harbors is playing a pivotal role in the overall cultural and economic revitalization of the City of Newburgh.
This special draft will be available from 6pm until 11 pm at The Wherehouse, 119 Liberty Street in Newburgh. Come on down to The Wherehouse on Thursday evening, and support a local bar, a local beer, and a great local charity!
