James Hoekema

James is a User Experience designer for Accenture, a Chicago-based consulting company. He also maintains a private consulting practice as a web designer and editor. Over a long career he has designed interactive programs and websites for large and small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and education, including an “art game,” a virtual tour of the Smithsonian, and travel guides to Venice and Lisbon. He holds M.A. and M. Phil. degrees in art history from Columbia University. Before moving to Newburgh in 1998, he lived in Michigan, New York City, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Maryland, Brussels, and London. In addition to Safe Harbors, he is a board member of the Historical Society and a past board member of Newburgh Preservation Association and the City of Newburgh Arts & Culture Commission.
