What a Fun Day! Ann Street Market and Family Fun Day 2011
Safe Harbors of the Hudson held the Ann Street Market and Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 6, 2011. The day began at 11 am, there was live music throughout the day. We had so many yummy food vendors; bbq and ka-bobs, cupcakes, lemonade and strawberry lemonade. There was a great variety of market vendors from antiques to photography and art, handbags, jewelry, cooking & baking items, and much more!
A petting zoo with ducks, geese, chickens and a pony were a big hit with the kids, as well as pony rides, face painting and coloring! The day ended a little early around 5:30pm due to rain, but the event was an overall success!
We would like to extend a big thank you to all of our fantastic vendors, talented performers, and wonderful volunteers who helped make this event happen… Thank you for helping make this day so much fun, can’t wait to see you at our next event!

Request for Proposals: Café Space at Safe Harbors of the Hudson
Safe Harbors of the Hudson is seeking proposals from qualified restaurateurs to develop, operate and maintain a café space in the available commercial space located on Broadway in Newburgh.
Safe Harbors will work with the selected restaurant operator to design the café concept to fit their own creative vision for the space. Safe Harbors will provide the build out costs as well as offer free rent for six months. The cafe operator will also have the opportunity to utilize Safe Harbors’ marketing and public relations support in addition to catering Safe Harbors, Ritz Theater and Ann Street Gallery events and meetings. The operator can also program their own events beyond the Safe Harbors, Ritz Theater and Ann Street Gallery schedule. Safe Harbors is looking for an operator who can offer quality, fresh affordable food for breakfast, lunch or possibly more.
The available space is approximately 1,500 square feet and has exposed brick walls, bright natural lighting and an open floor plan. The café space is conveniently located on the ground floor which provides direct street access. It is estimated that there are 1,550 workers within three city blocks in Newburgh, as well as SUNY Orange students only one block away. In addition, located at Safe Harbors is The Cornerstone Residence which is home to 128 tenants. The tenants at The Cornerstone Residence could provide a trained workforce for the operator of the café.
Safe Harbors of the Hudson is a non-profit organization, established in 2000, whose mission is transforming lives and building communities through housing and the arts. Our initial project began in December of 2002, when the Hotel Newburgh was purchased. This infamous, run-down welfare hotel was transformed into attractive, well-designed supportive housing. Renamed The Cornerstone Residence, this innovative housing opportunity offers more than a place to live; it also offers support services and job training on site, and many amenities such as a computer lab, library and fitness room. The Cornerstone Residence earned the prestigious “Residence of the Year” Award from the Supportive Housing Network of New York in October of 2007, and now has a waiting list of over 100 people. In 2008, Safe Harbors was awarded the Orange County Chamber of Commerce’s “Not-for-Profit Enterprise of the Year” Award.
